Free Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector Installations: Keeping You Safe

At Pearce’s Mill Fire Department, our top priority is the safety of our community. One of the easiest and most effective ways to protect your family is by making sure your home has working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. That’s why we’re thrilled to offer free smoke and carbon monoxide detector installations for residents within our Fire District. This service is made possible through a partnership with Cumberland County Emergency Services and funding from grants. However, please note that installations are contingent on the availability of supplies—so be sure to reach out while we have them in stock!

Why You Need Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

Smoke detectors are absolutely essential for alerting you to fires, especially when you’re asleep. They give you those precious extra seconds to escape to safety. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) reports that homes with working smoke detectors are much safer during a fire, making them a critical tool in fire prevention.

Carbon monoxide detectors are just as important. Since carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless, and potentially deadly, having a detector in your home can save your life. This gas is produced by any fuel-burning appliance, such as heaters, stoves, or even a car running in an attached garage. A carbon monoxide detector will alert you to any dangerous buildup, giving you a chance to act before it’s too late.

What We Offer

We are excited to offer free installations of both smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to residents in our Fire District. Our firefighters will come to your home and install the detectors in the best locations—usually near sleeping areas and hallways—so they can provide maximum protection. After installation, we’ll also guide you on how to test and maintain your detectors to keep them in good working condition.

How to Request an Installation

Getting your free detectors installed is simple! Just fill out the request form below, and we’ll schedule a time to come out and install the detectors for you. Please note that the installation service is subject to the availability of supplies. While we’re always happy to help, it’s important to get your request in early, as our supply of detectors may run out. We’ll do our best to accommodate you as soon as we’re able.
